People often ask me what The Perilous Road to Happiness is about. 'It's a romance novel' is my standard answer. But, if I really think about it, it's a book about life. The good stuff, the bad stuff and the people you share that stuff with.
The story is vastly different than what I had envisioned. The characters turned out different that what I had planned, but at the end of the day its a story about navigating the ups and downs that this crazy world throws at you and choosing to let experiences trap you in the past or help define who you will be in the future.
The characters are interesting, people who I would want to hang out with I think.
*Logan, the strong, determined, self assured and charasmatic firefighter.
*Trey, the caring, pragmatic, easy going doctor.
*Lincoln, the adventurer and photojournalist, even keeled and dependable.
*Mac, the quiet observer, dedicated to his friends and his fire department crew.
*Clio, the emotional, loyal and talented artist.
*Frankie, the sassy, funny and no nonsense attorney.
*Becks, the brave soldier and stoic leader.
*Jae, the flirtatious yet emotionally unavailable firefighter.
They are the fabric that weaves together the stories in this book and in the three additional volumes in the series. I am too attached to them to have them be a 'one and done' set of characters. I have a rough idea of what their stories entail but even I get surprised sometimes at how things end up.
